Prisoners of Turkish soldiers in the hands of the British during the First World War

The Ottoman State had just come out of a war before World War I and its economy collapsed. The Ottoman Empire, unable to survive the political, social and economic destruction of the Balkan War, found itself in a new war. It is known that he gave more than 200.000 prisoners in many front except dead, wounded and mis-sing soldiers. Many of these soldiers, who went from front to front to defend their homeland, left behind their tearful mothers and fathers, their children, their newlyweds, their fiancées and their jobs. Some of them sell their goods and shops or transfer them in to some else. During the war, the most captured country is England. During the First World War, soldiers who were captured by the British suffe-red during the transport to camps where they would stay for a long time, in their camp life, on their repatriation from camps to their home town and in their lives after the war. The British attitude to wars prisoners in the camps was contrary to internati-onal law. In addition, the conditions of the camp where the prisoners lived are unworthy of human dignity. The problems of the prisoners, many of whom were wo-unded and sick from the front, continued in the camps. Some of them lost their lives in these camps. These problems in the camps have caused irreparable wounds in the mental state of the prisoners. Despite all these problems, the prisoners managed to establish a new life in the camps and carried out many activities in social, cultural and religious fields. For the lucky soldiers who can return home after captivity, the prob-lems will not end. The new problems like in the camp are waiting for them in their homes. Some of them have got the news of the death of their parents left behind. some of them could not find their wives and children where they left.
