Public order in Yozgat in the course of World War I

This study contains Public Security Incidents, experienced in Yozgat Province during the First World War. As well as the incidents such as seizure, murder, theft which took place in an environment caused by authority gap during the war, several security incidents taking place in prisons are included in the study. Furthermore, Armenian upheavals are also included, which took place in Yozgat as a result of insurrection due to provocations of foreign countries and feelings of nationalism by Armenians, who lived well under the sway of Ottoman Empire for centuries and that are called as Loyal Nation thanks to their loyalty and services performed thereof. The study is generally based on Prime Ministry Ottoman Archive Documents. The objective of this study is to shed light on the public security incidents, experienced in Yozgat Province during the war in consideration of their reasons and results and reveal their reflections on the present day. As a consequence of the study, it was revealed that hundreds of people were injured, killed and their goods were plundered as a result of the disorder and authority gap, caused by the war in Yozgat. It was proved with documents that Yozgat, which is a neighbor of Vilayet-i Sitte (i.e., Six Provinces), had also its share from Armenian upheavals and how the Armenians and Muslim community, living all around the city, were affected following the incidents.
