(elementery school curricula in the education/national education councils during First Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the one-porty period (1920-1949))

This research has been prepared to examine the decisions of primary school curricula in the National Education Council in the Single Party period. The study is aimed to find an answer to the question: " Which decisions are taken regarding the dimensions of the purpose of the primary school program in the Council meetings during the period of the single-party and First Grand National Assembly of Turkey that the foundation of the Turkish National Ministry of Education was laid. In order to determine the purpose dimension of the primary school programs, 1921 Education Congress Primary School Program, 1939 First Education Council Primary School Program, 1943 Second Education Council Primary School Program, 1946 Third National Education Council Primary School Program and 1949 Fourth National Education Council Primary School Program were analyzed. The research patterned with the scanning model shows a qualitative research feature. The data in the study were collected by the document analysis technique. In the research, firstly, the documents related to the 1921 Education Congress were examined and the decisions regarding the Primary Education Program were conveyed. Then, National Education Councils gathered during the Single Party period were examined and the decisions taken within the Primary School Program were conveyed. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the content analysis; statements regarding the aims of the primary school programs in the Education Congress, the First and the Second Education Councils and the Third and Fourth National Education Councils; It has been categorized under seven categories: "Individual", "Social Life", "Patriotism", "History and Culture", "Economy and Development", "Citizenship" and "Natural and Physical Environment". Expressions related to these seven categories are mostly found respectively in the Fourth National Education Council (62), the Second Education Council (25), the First Education Council (12), the fourth Education Congress (4) and finally the Third National Education Council (3).
