Abstract (EN)

Collective security system which had been developed to protect international peace and security has mostly failed to meet expectations. Peace-keeping operations, as an alternative method, have not only brought a new dimension to collective security system but also provided possibility to use different approaches to dispute settlement. Nevertheless, peace-keeping operations have faced many criticisms resulted from the lack of knowledge on operations. However, these operations are the most preferred method. Thanks to the flexible structure of operations, they could adopt the changing conflict characteristics over time. Peace-keeping operations which enable to focus on the roots of the conflicts provide basis for a long lasting peace contrary to enforcement operations. In this regard, more knowledge on peace-keeping operations makes it easy to raise constructive criticisms. Keywords: 1. Collective Security 2. Uniting for Peace 3. Peacekeeping 4.
