The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child analysis of impacts on the Turkey's child protection system

The rules and practices laid down by international commitments, conventions and sanctions mechanisms in the field of children ultimately led to the emergence of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is important that the States Parties to this Convention reflect the relevant provisions in their domestic laws and practices. This research was conducted to analyze the effects of the United Nations on the Rights of the Child Convention on Turkey's child protection system. In this context, the reflections of the Convention to Turkish legislation and the awareness level of the implementing actors were determined. In the study where legal texts were analyzed in a comparative manner, the approaches of the implementing actors to the subject in terms of their gender, experience and occupational expertise were measured by questionnaire technique. Our study suggest that the Turkish legislation is more advanced than the practical of the Turkey's child protection system regarding complience with internationl child policy. There are also important indications that significant deficiencies exist for both legislation and implementing actors. As a result of the research, opinions and recommendations have been developed in terms of the facilities of being able to become more functional and efficient in Turkey's public policies that apply in child protection system.
