Abstract (EN)
Nowadays, as a result of the effects of the globalization process businesses are struggling to compete in the market while having difficulty meeting social expectations. Therefore, businesses that do not behave responsibly towards social problems and ignore them are not only unable to sustain their long-term existence in the global market, but also in the society in which they exist. One of the most important factors in the long-term operations of enterprises is the level of their financial performance. By bringing together production factors in a planned and systematic manner, the purpose of companies that produce goods or services is to gain profit. According to the balance of supply and demand, the increase in the supply of goods or services is proportional to the demand of society. For enterprises to meet social needs, outside of responding to expectations and making profits, they also need to engage in other activities to ensure the continuity of this demand. Therefore, businesses are part of the community and should be expressed in some studies that they provide support for solving social problems. This study was conducted to determine whether the concept of corporate social responsibility has an impact on the financial performance of enterprises. For this purpose, the financial statements and Corporate Governance Rating reports of 33 business in the BIST-Corporate Governance Index in the years of 2012 and 2017 were examined within the context of corporate social responsibility. vii The study used the financial performance of enterprises as an indicator of financial ratios calculated in the relevant years. In addition to the corporate governance points of the selected enterprises, the business size, leverage ratio, active turnover ratio and debt resource ratio are taken into consideration as independent variables. Financial statements of enterprises were analyzed by the ratio analysis method and Corporate Governance Rating reports were analyzed by the content analysis method. The panel data analysis method was used for statistical investigation of the concept of corporate social responsibility as independent variables and its effects on financial performance indicators, which were dependent variables. As a result of the study, it was determined that society was sensitive to and generally gave importance to the concept of corporate social responsibility.
