Folk medicine in Bitlis

Folk medicine, which is a living tradition of folk culture, and traditional methods of practice are a wide field that covers there medies that people resort to in the face of diseases, traditional treatments, and pre-disease prevention. Disease and health care as old as human history, but the traditional methods of treating people are vividly preserved in cultural memory. Our study called Folk Medicine in Bitlis includes folk medicine treatments and practices available in the centers, districts, neighborhoods and villages of Bitlis province. Traditional methods of folk medicine, which have come from the past to the present day in our field of study, have been compiled by conducting field studies, supported by written sources and put into writing. In our study, there are diseases treatment and applications, places of treatment depending on the location, medicinal waters, materials used in treatment and the dictionary of words in the vernacular are also included.
