Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study, is the development of new biocompatible polymeric drug delivery systems for use in the biomedical and biotechnological fields. Vancomycin was selected as a model drug for use in the field of controlled release of bioactive molecule from polymeric device. Poly(2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate) pHEMA, and/or hydroxypropylchitosan hydrogels were used in the biomedical applications. In this work, 2-hydroxyethyl-methacrylate monomer and/or hydroxypropylchitosan hydrogels with various formulations were synthesized in the presence of azobisizobutironitril (AIBN, initiator) via UV fotopolimerization. The pHEMA and hidroxypropylcitosan are resistance to microbial attack and many chemicals. The hydrogel formulations can be easily prepared in one step, the composite hydrogels are compatible with biological systems and also the equilibrium water content of the hydrogels are compatible with the living tissue. The properties of the composite hydrogel formulation can be adjusted by changing HEMA: hydroxypropylchitosan ratio. The synthesized hydrogels were characterized using FTIR, SEM, surface contact angle measurement and thermal analysis (DSC). Biocompatibility of the hydrogels formulation (pHEMA/HPC)-1-6 also examined. Hydrogel formulations were loaded with different amount of model drug that are placed in a continuous release system and release kinetic of the model drug is studied. The composite HEMA/HPC hydrogels formulations can be used as implantable biomaterials for various biomedical applications.
