Abstract (EN)
The production of biodiesel occurs as a result of the formation of fatty acid methyl ester through the combination of oil and methyl alcohol accompanied by a catalyst. Then, the phase of biodiesel is separated from the glycerin phase. Biodiesel phase is washed with water to remove the impurities (glycerin, water, soap, methanol, etc.) contained in it and the drying process is carried out. . In order to achieve a biodiesel conforming to the TSE EN14214 standard, the use of adsorbents to replace washing to remove the impurities was thought to be effective. In this process, the biodiesel was treated with adsorbents without the washing and drying process. Throughout the studies, the most suitable adsorbent was tried to be develop using different adsorbents. Magnesol, talc, tonsil, synthesized silica gel and different chemicals were used in the course of the experiments. The effects of adsorbents were investigated through analyses after the treatment of biodiesel with adsorbents. The silica gel-based adsorbent material synthesized in this study was observed to be suitable for the target purpose.
