Evaluation of the effects of biophilic design criteria on the stress level of the oncology patients

People have an innate impulsive preference for perceiving the attractiveness of an environment containing nature/natural elements. Based on this theory, biophilic design was developed as an architectural design approach that aims to connect people with nature/natural processes by incorporating natural materials, forms, colors and patterns into the built environment.The researches carried out to date are based on the biophilic design approach; supports its measurable and positive effects on health, and strengthens experimental findings in terms of human-nature interaction. Due to the healing effect of the biophilic design approach on human psychology, it has an important place in health care spaces. It has been reported in the studies that most of the users who receive health services are stressed or they experience acute stress due to the illness they have experienced.This study was developed for oncology inpatient services due to the difficult treatment process and the high stress burden caused by the disease in order to contribute to the limited literature. In the study; It was mentioned that health buildings are places where stress factors should be reduced and that the biophilic design, which adopts the principle of nature/connection with nature, can reduce this negative effect. It is aimed to determine the effect of the biophilic tags of the structures on the stress levels of patients undergoing oncology treatment.
