Abstract (EN)

This thesis work was carried out in four parts. At the first part, 3-acetylcoumarin derivatives synthesized by Knoevenagel reaction and then were converted to malononitrile derivatives by using modified Gewald reaction. Later, eight new coumarin-selenophene hybrid compounds were obtained by their reaction with selenium. In the second part, eight new carbostyril-selenophene derivatives were obtained via the reaction of four 4-methyl coumarin compounds with two different Gewald type selenophene. The structures of all synthesized compounds were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. In the third part, biological activity tests of these new compounds were performed. These testes were DPPH antioxidant activity tests; anti-tumoral activity on MCF7 breast cancer and DU145 prostate cancer cell lines. In addition, Caspase 3, Caspase 8 and Caspase 9 tests were performed for the coumarin-selenophene hybrid compounds to investigate to determine their role on cancer treatment. In the fourth and final stage, the fluorescence properties of all synthesized compounds in various solvents were examined, and the compounds with the best quantum yield and large Stokes shift were determined.
