Abstract (EN)

Activated carbon was obtained by using KOH by chemical activation method after carbonizing using different biomass (apricot seed shell, walnut shell, peach seed shell, pistachio shell, almond seed shell) produced on industrial scale in our country and province. Biomass was taken from enterprises and used in experiments without size reduction. Biomass was mixed in its original form with a mass ratio of 1/1 and carbonized for 1 hour at maximum temperature with heating speeds of 3°C/min, 5°C/min and 10°C/min at a flow rate of 100 ml/min N2 at 400°C, 500°C, 600°C. In the carbonization process, pyrolysis liquid was taken by placing the condenser at the furnace outlet and solid, liquid and gas yields were calculated from the mass equivalence. Carbonized products were taken in appropriate quantities and mass ration 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 with KOH impregnation process was performed at 800°C and 1 hour chemical activation process at 10°C/min heating rate. The resulting activated carbons were characterized by BET, SEM, XRD, FTIR and CHNS analyses. Methylene blue was used for the adsorption capacities of all activated carbon samples. In addition, methylene blue dye adsorption and kinetics have been studied. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin structures of the raw biomass samples were different. However, carbon content (47.37-50.45%) was found to be close to each other. It was determined that the carbonization solid yield of all samples varied in the range of 26.4-33.00%, liquid yield in the range of 26.9-41.3% and gas yield in the range of 26.4-46.7%. In general, as the carbonization temperature increases, the gas yield increases, while the solid yield decreases. The surface area of activated carbon obtained as a result of activation of carbonized samples varied in the range of 394, 05-1717, 20 m2/gram for all samples.
