Measuring the level of knowledge of preservice biology teachers and research on the methods and levels of nanobiotechnology education

The purpose of this study was to measure preservice biology teachers? level of knowledge on topics of nanobiotechology. Investigation was made to reveal whether or not the scores of preservice biology teachers? in nanobiotechnology knowledge tests vary according to the gender, the year of their study, the type of high school they graduated from and educational and economical background of parents. Also in this study, it was attempted to investigate the views of preservice biology teachers on nanobiotechnology education.Results of the analysis have revealed that the scores of preservice biology teachers in the nanobiotechnology knowledge test was at intermediate level. It was seen that the scores of preservice biology teachers in the nanobiotechnology knowledge test differentiate significantly with regard to their year of study. It was detected that the scores of preservice biology teachers in the nanobiotechnology knowledge test do not differentiate significantly with regard to gender, the type of high school they graduated from and educational and economical background of parents. Also, as result of this study it was concluded that the inclusion of a new course with the name ?Nanobiotechnology? in the curriculum of biology education programs of universities is required.Key Words: Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Nanobiotechnology, Biology Education, Preservice Biology Teachers
