Abstract (EN)
Nature has been a guide for humanity throughout history. As in every field of sciences, it has emerged as an inspirational and imitated element of design. The concept of biomimicry, which has gained importance today, has been formed as a result of these two contexts. Biomimicry, an innovative design discipline, transfers the strategies in nature to the design through certain methods and processes. As a result of today's technological developments, the application of systems that can react to changing environmental conditions and can be adapted according to user needs, has become important in architecture. The application for this purpose has revealed the necessity of kinetic architecture. The performance of the building is being increased with the reactive movements it shows to variables such as climate and light around it. In this thesis, alternative design proposals supported by biomimicry are presented for interactive facade components that can react to changing environmental conditions, adapt, provide indoor thermal comfort and preserve existing energy, and their performance has been evaluated. The design proposals are made for the window element that takes reference to the cold climate zone. In this context, with the inspiration taken from the adaptation of living things in nature to the changes in their environment by using simultaneous feedback systems; The focus is on kinetic facade component designs that will provide high energy requirement, minimizing heat loss, heat storage and maximum benefit from solar radiation. In the thesis study, the concepts of biomimicry and kinetic architecture were first examined. In the further casestudy section, three design proposals are presented with the biomimicry method's definition, transformation, exploration, simulate and evaluation method diagram. With this study, it is understood that the proposed facade component designs can be obtained with kinetic biomimicry formations and can bring effective solutions.
