Abstract (EN)
In this study, 50 pieces of war material recovered from Amorium excavations between 1988 and 2009 were examined. Amorium witnessed continuous settlement during the Hittite, Phrygian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods as of 2000s B.C. The city consists of two parts; Lower City and Upper City. Excavation works in Amorium were first started with the surface analysis conducted by Prof. Dr. R. Martin Harrison in 1987 and continued with the excavation works between 1988-1992. The excavation works between 1993-2009, however, continued under the presidency of Dr. Chris S. Lightfoot. The excavation works in the city has been continuing under the presidency of Prof. Dr. Zeliha DEMİREL GÖKALP on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Anadolu University with the Council of Ministers' Decision since 2014. The subject of this study is composed of 2 swords, 1 ax, 1 dagger, 16 ballista ends and 30 arrow heads. Amorium war materials were found dispersedly in the parts of the city referred as Lower City and Upper City and in different areas. Most of the war materials were found in the Great Venue, Church A, Triangle Tower and Big Building in Lower City. Other war materials were found in L and UU areas in Upper City.
