Abstract (EN)

The most common problem in implant dentistry is deficency of alveolar bone. Due to the alvoelar bone resorption after tooth extraction, the bone matter decreases rapidly. In cases where there is insufficient bone matter for placing implants in correct prosthetic position, clinicians have to perform bone augmentation procedures prior to the implant surgery. Horizontal bone augmentation procedures are as follows: alevolar distraction ostegenesis, cret split osteotomy and guided bone regeneration with bone block or particle graft combined with membrane. The aim of this study is to compare the success of block grafting and guided bone regeneration at horizontal bone augmantation. In this study, horizontal bone augmentation procedure was performed on 20 patients (22 areas). Augmented bone volumes were compared the by 3D tomography. The difference in the average acquired bone gain was statistically not significant between the two groups (p>0.05). At 2 mm apical level results was significantly higher in bone block group (p:0,193). Studies with extended population andlonger term follow-up are needed to support the outcome of our study.
