Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of block-based project development process on Copyrights of middle school students in Information Technologies and Software course on their academic achievement, learning permanence and motivation of the student. The study was carried out in the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic year in a total of six weeks at a public secondary school affiliated to the Ministry of National Education located in Ceyhan district of Adana. A total of 60 students, 30 of whom were experiments and 30 of whom were controls, made up the study group. The Copyright Academic Achievement Test (pre-test, post-test and persistence) and the Motivation Scale (pre-test and post-test) were used to collect the data during the entire study period. In the application process, the Copyright Academic Achievement Test and the Motivation Scale were made to the experimental and control students as a preliminary test. Later, Block-based project development process was carried out in the experimental group and teaching activities related to "Copyright, License Types, Open Access" of the Information Technologies and Software course were carried out using the Traditional Teaching Method compatible with the curriculum prepared by the Training Training Board Presidency in the control group. The application was completed in a 3-week period. The experimental group made their own unique story and game designs for the copyright issue with Scratch, while the control group received instruction literally from the teacher and by taking lesson notes. Immediately after the end of the application, the Copyright Academic Achievement Test and the Motivation Scale were re-applied simultaneously to all groups as the final test. In order to monitor the permanence of learning 3 weeks after the last test application, the Copyright Academic Achievement Test was applied again to all groups as a Permanence Test. The obtained data were entered into TAP, JAMOVI and SPSS programs and the results were analyzed. In order to answer the research questions, normality values and distributions of the data were examined and Independent Groups T-Test, Dependent Groups t-Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon W test analyses were performed. The results of the study showed that the final test scores of the Copyright academic achievement test and motivation scale of the experimental group students significantly differed from the academic achievement test and motivation scale success scores of the control group students in favor of the experimental group. According to the results of the permanence test conducted 3 weeks after the study period, it was found that the learning permanence of the experimental group students differed significantly compared to the control group students.
