Abstract (EN)

Purpose: This research has been carried out in order to evaluate the validity and reliability of Self-Management on Kidney Transplant Recipients Scale in Turkey. Method: This research is a methodological study. The universe of the research consisted of the patients who appealed to Akdeniz University Hospital Prof. Dr. Tuncer KARPUZOĞLU Transplantation Polyclinic. 262 patients who were suitable for sampling criteria and appealed to the polyclinic between July 2015 and Mart 2016 consisted of the sampling of the research. Size of the sampling was determined by considering ten times of the number of self-management scale items (24). Ethic commitee approval, written approval from institutions and the owners of scales and informed consent from the individuals participating in the study were obtained in the research. The data were collected by utilizing socio-demographic, clinic and patient identification form, Self-management on Kidney Transplant Patients Scale, Self-care Ability Scale and Immunesupressive Treatment Adaptation on Transplantation Patients Scale. Self-management on Kidney Transplant Patients Scale was developed by Kosaka et.al in 2013 and its validity and reliability were tested. Scale is four pointlikert-types.The original scale consists of 4 factors and 24 items. Using SPSS 23 programme the data were analyzed by calculating number, percent, mean, standard deviation, Content Validity Index, factor analysis, correlation analysis and Cronbach Alpha coefficient. Findings: Translation and re-translation were performed in language validity of the scale. For the content validity expert opinion was referred and it was determined that expert views were coherent. I-CVI=0.99 and S-CVI=0.93 for language statement was found and also to be 1.00 in terms of content for both. It did not confirm the factor structure of the original scale in confirmative factor analysis. As a result of descriptive factor anaysis, it was identified that the scale was collected under 3 factors. A moderate relationship with Self-Care Agency Scale was identified and a weak relationship with sub-dimensions of Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence Scale was identified in hypothesis test of the scale. Internal coherence reliability coefficient was found as 0.73. When test-retest reliability is considered, statistically significant relationships were found (p<0.05). A positive significant relationship at p<0.01 level was identified between the sub-dimensions of the scale in item analysis. Conclusion: "Self-management on Kidney Transplant Recipients Scale" was determined as a valid and reliable tool in Turkey. Key Words: kidney transplantation, self-management, scale validity and reliability
