Abstract (EN)
The Effect Of The Vascular Features Of The Donor Kidney On Transplant Success In Renal Transplantation AIM: Chronic renal failure is an important public health issue and its most important treatment is renal transplantation. Increasing the success of renal transplantation is important for both individual and public health. In our study, we aimed to contribute to increasing the success of future transplantation operations by investigating the effect of donor vascular structures on the success of renal transplantation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between 01.01.2019 and 01.01.2021, patients with 90 renal transplantation operations performed were examined in Sakarya University Training and Research Hospital. Before the operation, donor CT images (Aquilion; Toshiba Medical Systems, Tokyo, Japan) were obtained and analyzed at the workstation (Aquarius; Tera Recon, Durham, England). Transplanted kidney was examined with Doppler US on the 1st day, 3rd, 6th and 12th months after the operation. All US examinations were performed with Toshiba and Samsung devices using 3-5 mHz and 7-12 mHz transducers and superficial and convex probes. RESULTS: The PI values on the 1st day after transplantation were correlated with the rates of acute rejection in the first 1 year. As the transplanted kidney volumes increase, 12th month creatinine values decrease CONCLUSION: Doppler data on the first day, which is a very early period after transplantation, may warn about the possible risk of acute rejection of the graft. The negative correlation of increase in kidney volume with creatinine at month 12 indicates that it is beneficial to select the larger kidney in multiple donor situations.
