Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the cultivation of carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) and performance of some carnation varieties were investigated. The main aim of the study is to think of Bolu as a new region which will appeal to the gap in the market in this period due to the increase in temperature in greenhouses in summer in Antalya where cut flower cultivation is intensively made and exported. Six different spray carnation types were used in the study and their performance was measured. As a result of the study, the highest flower diameter value was found in red (Diantus barbatus burunello) variety (51.3 mm) while the thickest flower stem value was determined as 6.5 mm in yellow-red (Diantus barbatus Carinbo) variety. In terms of the length of the flower stalk, the variety of yellow-red (Diantus barbatus Carinbo) varieties with a length of 75.6 mm flower stalks has been distinguished. In terms of the number of flowlet that are an important feature in the spray carnations, the yellow-red (Diantus barbatus Carinbo) varieties were found to have the highest number of flowlet with an average of 5 flowlet / plants. The findings obtained in our study were compared with other studies in the world and it was determined that the data obtained from carnation varieties matched with other studies and even some of the varieties had superior performance. Therefore, it is concluded that the cultivation of the carnation, which is an important species for our country's cut flower industry, is suitable and recommended in the greenhouse conditions in Bolu.
