Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to examine the passive vocabulary in the novel of Doctor Zhivago which was written by Boris Pasternak who is one of the important writers in Russian literature. In this direction, firstly, the passive vocabulary of Contemporary Russian Language was reviewed, then the historical words and neologism were touched upon. In continuation, Pasternak's perception of history was studied upon in addition to Pasternak's life and literary creavity. Historical words and neologism in Doctor Zhivago were classified in respect to terms, which they represent. It has been concluded that the historical words of the work which constitutes the subject of the study, give the reader important clues about the panarome of the society and the color of the period. By neologism, it was intended to present the concrete evidences of the mobility of the language in relation to social and political phenomena such as the Revolution, First World War and Civil War in Russia. Thus, the reflections of the vocabulary of the Contemporary Russian Language that are constantly renewing and adapting to principles which constitutes the basis of language such as plainness and wealth in the language according to the current period are given in Doctor Zhivago.
