Financial analysis in companies traded on Borsa Istanbul

Investors examine the financial performance of companies in past years when making investment decisions. The financial performance of the company is assumed to continue in the coming years. If companies increase their assets, sales, profits and profitability each year, it is expected to follow the same trend in the coming years. The financial statements of the previous years are very important for evaluating the financial condition of companies. Financial statements are analyzed using financial statements analysis techniques. The aim of this study is to help investors evaluate their financial performance by making financial analysis of companies while making investment decisions. 13 companies in industry of Paper and Paper Products, Printing and Publishing on Borsa Istanbul are used in the implementation of the study. In order to keep the financial data of the companies up-to-date, it has been used data of the last five years of 2015-2019. Ratio analysis, vertical analysis and trend analysis methods are used in the study. In the ratio analysis, 20 ratios are used: liquidity, operating turnover ratio, financial structure and profitability ratios. In vertical and trend analysis, cash and cash equivalents, trade receivables, inventories, current assets, fixed assets, short and long term liabilities, equity, sales, cost of sales, gross profit, operating profit and net profit accounts are used. As a result of the analysis, it is determined that the financial performance of the sector shows an increasing trend every year in 2015-2018 period, peaked in 2018 and decreased in 2019.
