The sociological analysis of divorced woman's reasons for divorce and diffcultices they face after divorce – the case of Yozgat province

In a society, as well as the phenomenon of marriage and family institution, divorce phenpmenon in the same society shows its existance. Therefore, one of the social issues that sociologists cannot ignore is the phenomenon of divorce. The specific aim of the study was to investigate the causes of divorce and the ways and methods of coping with divorce in Yozgat. In the study, the diffuculties experienced by divorced woman at socio-economic level and in the context of gender were studied. İn order to find out what it means to be a divorced woman, 30 divorced woman living in and around Yozgat were interviewed. The socio-demographic characteristics of divorced woman were evaluated and their effects on divorce were highlighted. The relationship of divorce with family roles and family fonctions was evaluated and its effects on divorce were investigated. According to the findings, the family functions of woman in general are cooking, child rearing and socialization of children, problem solving function in family problems and taking on all responsibilities within the family. Culturally, the consept of gender regulates the roles of people who are masculine and feminine. Gender, which unequally distributes these roles, separates woman according to their biological characteristics. The social role of woman and the gender-based division of labor within society also causes social problems in divorce. One of these problems is economic problems. İs difficults for a divorced woman to find a job and support her if she has children because she is a divorced woman. İt is known that the position and place of woman in society is the roles and status given to them. The aim of this study is to analyze the economicand socio-cultural problems that divorced woman woman face due to their divorce and how they can cope with with these problems.
