Özet (EN)
In this thesis study, various layered armor structures as well as perforated and positioned armor structures have been investigated. Initially, an existing experimental study was taken into account, and the bullet and armor models used in that study were designed using the Design Modeler module of the ANSYS package program. After creating the model, it was divided into design mesh structures (meshing process) using the ANSYS Explicit Dynamics module. The physical conditions from the reference study were applied to the model as boundary and initial conditions (bullet velocity, rotation, etc.). Once the necessary analysis settings were made, the model was solved. The resulting outcomes were compared with the experimental results. Mesh analysis was continued until the results became consistent with each other and an appropriate mesh structure was determined for the model. After achieving consistency between the mesh analysis and the experimental results, ballistic tests were conducted on the perforated armor designed for the same bullet. When examining the armor ballistically, it is costly and time-consuming to apply each condition separately for material selection, armor shape, and positioning. Designing simulations in computer programs by entering the most suitable conditions closest to reality provides insights into the performance of these armors. This study is important in practically implementing the armor content and its ballistic behavior against incoming bullets. Realistic simulations were aimed by incorporating not only bullet velocity but also rotational motion in this study. Additionally, through experiments conducted in the simulation program, the ballistic performance of armors designed at a significantly lower cost compared to practical experimental tests has been determined.
