Abstract (EN)

In this thesis the flexural behavior of one way RC slabs with opening and strengthening with CFRP strips are investigated. Size and location of opening on the slabs are the main parameters that are investigated by using the present experimental research. Three different sizes of opening are located onto RC slap with two different locations. Two series of tests are performed during experimental program. First set of experiments are performed without strengthening and second set of test are performed after strengthening with CFRP strips. Finally some evaluations of test results are performed for determining the performance of strengthening techniques. Strength, stiffness, ductility and energy dissipation capacities of specimens are calculated and compared. In addition strain measurements are taken from CFRP strips and the failure modes of specimen are investigated. By all these evaluations, the strengthening technique that can be applied easily, faster and required less workmanship is developed. Totally, thirteen test specimens are tested, including one reference specimen, six specimens without strengthening and six specimens with strengthening. Three different square opening with 300 mm, 400 mm, 500 mm are tested. These openings are situated in two different places, bending and shear zone and sizes specimen has 3000 mm length, 1000 mm width and 150 mm height. The 100 mm wide CFRP strips are used for strengthening specimens. Strips are wrapped around the specimen along the openings. Capacity values of the specimens are calculated according to ACI 440 Commitee report and the results are compared with experimental results.Key Words : Slab with opening, Strengthening, CFRP
