Analyses of novels about the Bosnian War

In the Bosnian War, which took place in recent history, Bosniaks went through great suffering. Even though newspapers and media had a great impact on the events of a war and even though the war ended 25 years ago, what people lived through is still fresh in their memories. The influence of this war provides settings for works of Turkish and Bosnian writers. This paper analyses novels written about war in Bosnia: Sevdalinka (Traditional Bosnian song), The Story of Srebrenica, Goodbye Sarajevo, and The Scream. This paper focuses on suffering Bosnians lived through and different ways of how writers presented it. This thesis contains five parts: introduction, first, second, and the third part, and conclusion. First part gives information about novel and historical novel in general. The focus is also placed on connection between war and literature. The analyses of novels were done in the second part of the paper, and the third part focuses on the comparison of novels.
