Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, using electron-withdrawing groups such as F-, CN- and CF3- to adjust the electronic properties of carbazole by utilizing the aromatic tricyclic structure of carbazole 4,4'-(9-octyl-9H-carbazole-3,6-diyl)bis(2-fluorobenzonitrile) (MG1), 4,4'-(9-hexyl-9H-carbazole-3,6-diyl)bis(2-fluorobenzonitrile) (MG2), 4, 4'-(9-octyl-9H-carbazole-3,6diyl)bis(2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile)) (MG3), 4,4'-(9-hexyl-9H-carbazole-3,6-diyl)bis(2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile)) (MG4) have designed and synthesized molecules. The structures of these synthesized compounds were characterized using FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR techniques. UV-GB and Fluorescence spectra of these compounds were also taken and photophysical analysis was also carried out. Among the synthesis methods, Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reaction, bromination and alkylation reactions were used to synthesize molecules that can be used in new dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). After fabricating DSSCs with different counter electrodes (TiO2 and ZnO) using target molecules (MG1, MG2, MG3, MG4) that may have the potential to be used in the field of clean energy, battery performance measurements were taken and short circuit current density (JSC) values, open circuit voltage (VOC) and percent efficiency of the realized batteries were measured.
