Abstract (EN)

The heat source obtained from waste heat or solar energy, which is a renewable energy source, must be stored in order to be used efficiently. While boilers are generally preferred for this storage, water as a storage mass is widely used because of its high thermal capacity. The change in the density of the water depending on the temperature causes the water to be exposed to some currents in the boiler tank and accelerates the heat transfer by increasing it. In order to minimize the heat transfer of the hot water stored in the boiler with the cold water passing through the environment and the coil, and to reduce the heat transfer rate, applied experiments were carried out to observe the performances of different types of insulation materials such as glass fiber, sponge, polyurethane, elastomeric rubber insulation materials. The obtained data were analyzed and interpreted. As a result of these interpretations, it has been determined that the heat transfers are the least in the polyurethane insulated boiler and it gives the best result in efficiency-cost calculations.
