Abstract (EN)
Aim: We evaluated the role of sympathetic skin response (SSR) for selection of treatment choice and diagnosis of BPH disease via investigation of the SSR of patients with BPH and healthy persons.Materials and Methods: In our study we assessed 40 persons. Twenty of them were selected between healthy persons and the other 20 ones who diagnosed and operated (TUR-P) due to BPH. After the physical examination we evaluated prostatic volume, PSA value, uroflowmetry and IPSS for all patients. The SSR were investigated once for the control group and twice for patients before and after TUR-P operation.Results: We found that the amplitude of SSR on hand and penis were lower in patients with BPH in preoperative period when compared to control group. The latent periods of SSR on hand, penis and food also prolonged in patients with BPH disease when compared to control group. In comparison of results before and after the operation the latent periods were shorter and the amplitudes were higher after the operation.Conclusion: The SSR showed that the increase of sympathetic tonus with BPH disease. But SSR is not a succifient method in diagnosis and selection of treatment choices of BPH disease alone. The new studies are needed on this subject.Keywords: BPH, SSR,TUR-P
