Abstract (EN)

Basic text called Tripitaka or Pali Kanon in Buddhist text is important scriptures for Buddhists and Buddhism. Outside of these three Pali texts there are other scriptures revered and considered important by Buddhists. One of these is Visudhimagga or Path of Purity written by Buddhagosa. One of the important sacred texts of Buddhism is also named Milindapanha (The Questions of King Milinda). This text is an intellectual conversation between King Milinda who has got rational and suspicious personality and monk Nagasena. He asks some disputatious questions about Buddhist theology or Buddhism itself to monk Nagasena as questions. Answers of monk Nagasena to these questions are illuminating and instructive. In this study we tried to express basic tenets of Buddhist theology according to Milindapanha. Not only the subjects such as nirvana, karma, meditation we examined under the metaphysical principles but also teaching of Buddha and community of Buddha are very important in Buddhism. The basic issues we tried to express in our study are still being continued to debate in Buddhist theology. On the other hand, scholars of History of Religions also pay attention to these subjects seriously. Key Words: Buddhism, Buddha, The Questions of King Milinda, Buddhist Theology.
