Abstract (EN)

In this study, the subject of zuhd in Islamic mysticism and Buddhism was examined. Because the comprehension of zuhd portrays the mystic beliefs of the human relations with the world and the regulation of life styles, which is one of the basic factors as in basic teachings of Buddhism and Islam sufism. In this relation, both Buddhism and in the beliefs of mysticsm, first you start with zuhd philosphy and then within the historical course after crossing diffrent developments, it has returned to become institutionalised. And it has become an important ingredient towards a spiritual world for the society. The commmon point in both the beliefs is to pull away oneself from the negative human attributes and to earn the divine attributes reaching out the infinite peace. Our aim is to put zuhd thinking of Buddhism and İslamic sufism, evaluate their similarities and common points from an academic perspective. Keywords: Buddha, Buddhism, Nirodha, Sufism, Sangha, BikĢu
