Abstract (EN)

In this study, to be able to open and close the intake valve of onecylindir and four stroke spark ignition engine in time, anelectromagnetic mechanism has been prepared and a prototype isconstructed. A 42 volts power supply has been employed to power theelectromagnetic valve mechanism. To control the opening and closingof intake valve PIC16F84A microcontoller which works with the signalfed by the hall-effect sensors has been used. The effects of the valveopening and closing times on the volumetric efficiency, torque, power, break specific fuel consuption have been investigated by changing thepositions of hall-effect sensors on the engine and a comparison withthe classical cam mechanism. Due to bouncing of inlet valve andarmature, and delay of valve opening and closing especially at the highspeeds, decrease on the volumetric efficiency, torque and breakhorse power, deterioration of air/fuel rate have been observed.
