DESIGN and APPLICATION OF SYMMETRICAL CONVERTER WITHFUZZY CONTROL TECHNIQUE(M.Sc. Thesis)Binnur SANCAK PALAZGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTThe level of the AC voltages can be adjusted by using transformers, but DCvoltage level can be only adjusted by means of DC-DC converters. For systemsthat require dual DC output voltage, symmetrical converters are necessary. Inthis study, a symmetrical converter with Fuzzy logic control was designed.Symmetrical converters provide both positive and negative output voltage froma positive input voltage. A DC motor, 1 kW, was run with. The input to thedesigned converter was a 50V DC voltage, and the output voltage was between+100 and -100. An IGBT was used as a semi-conductor switch in the designedconverter. The switching signals necessary for keeping the output voltage at thedesired level were controlled by a fuzzy technique and PIC18F452 was used as amicrocontroller. These types of converters are used for systems that requiresymmetrical voltage and appropriate to high capacity applications. DC-DCconverters are preferred because of their advantages such as speed control withsoft switching technique, efficiency and dynamic response.Science Code : 703Key Words : Symmetrical, Luo Converter, Fuzzy Logic Controller: 79Page NumberAdviser : Prof. Dr. smail COŞKUN
