Abstract (EN)

Concerning the plans for the port, a variety of efforts has been made to determine the optimum berth length of the port. In this study has been done by developing and using fuzzy model to determine berth length which is effective to designate the port capacity. In this model has been done to determine berth length and berth utilization. With regards to the Izmir Alsancak Port container terminal in 2006, the size of boats, handling crew capacity, number of boats arriving and how they would be grouped was divided into three functions. The grouping of the berth length was separated into four functions. The fuzzy model of the Izmir Alsancak Port, which showed berth length, was used every month to calculate the berth utilization by dividing the total berth length. The real berth utilization monthly in 2006 for the Izmir Alsancak Port Container Terminal was able to be compared with the berth utilization in the fuzzy model every month. This resulted successfully in calculating the berth length with the size and number of boat?s arriving, and handling crew capacity.
