Mapping of flood risk areas around Uluabat lake in Bursa province

Floods and floods are one of the natural disasters that have caused loss of life and property since history. This is effective not only in our country but all over the world, mainly due to the combination of atmospheric anomalies and local conditions, it become effective on a large scale in a short time. Nowadays, studies are being carried out on this subject in our country as well as all over the world. Especially Remote Sensing (UA) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are very convenient in such complex studies. In this study, firstly, precipitation, slope, aspect, curvilinearity, land use, soil, proximity of stream networks, lithological structural data that are effective in flooding were examined by approaching the environment of Uluabat Lake in Bursa Province holistically from a geographical point of view. The obtained data hydrological preliminary studies were carried out on ArcGIS 10.8 software. After that, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which is one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (ÇKKV) methods, and Weighted Overlay Analysis (WOA) techniques were used to identify areas at risk of flooding. The Landsat8 OLI Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data of the relevant area, wich is required for the analysis of the study area, was used. The soil data was provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). In the preparation of the land use map and the classification of this map, the Corine Land Cover 2018 data has been referenced. Precipitation data was obtained from Bursa Provincial Directorate of Meteorology. Besides that, DSI 1. Previous flood data were also taken from the Regional Directorate. For flood analysis, ArcGIS 10.8 software was used, reclassification was made with critical values using Weighted Overlay Analysis and AHP methods, and flood risk mapping operations were performend. With the data obtained by the study, a preliminary research was carried out fort he planning before, during and after the flood, taking into account the risky regions.
