The usage of outdoor wooden elements in bursa city's natural areas

With the developing technology and increasing urbanization, people have started to prefer quiet, comfy, cozy and modern green fields with equipment to meet their picnic needs. With the effect of increasing environmental problems, nature life, green fields and outdoors are the center of attraction more than before for people who live in city. Increasing demand for green fields caused legislations to be developed that are related to these fields and created need to increase projects that are related with specification of materials that will be used in nature fields. In this context it shows that wood is a material that its usage increases in green fields in terms of both its suitability with nature life and easy availability and is suggested its usage in the relevant legislation. With the project, it is aimed to determine characteristics of wooden use in the areas that represent four types of recreation areas within the borders of Bursa Province and mentioned in the Recreational Places Regulation. In this context, in addition to the literature review, examinations and observations were made in the study areas, the wood reinforcements used for the outdoor environment were classified, and interviews were held on the material selection, production and assembly considerations of the companies producing wood for the outdoor environment in Turkey. In this context, it has been determined that wooden materials are generally used in the reinforcements of recreation areas. It has been observed that coniferous species are generally preferred as the tree species because they are economical, and the reinforcement designs are generally similar to each other. It has been concluded that assembly, protection processes and maintenance are important for prolonging the service life of wood material, wood consumption should be reduced for the continuity of ecological balance, and alternative materials close to wood material properties should be tried to balance wood consumption.
