Abstract (EN)
Clinical laboratory has an important role in monitoring the pregnancy. The aim of our study is to evaluate the nutrition level and the changes in laboratory output during pregnancy in pregnant women living in the center of Bursa. 271 pregnant women consulting regularly to the Bursa Şevket Yılmaz State Hospital Pregnancy Polyclinic from the first trimester were recruited in November 2009 ? January 2010. The data was attained by face-to-face discussion technique. In the interview the pregnant women was asked 25 questions of a questionnaire and their answers were recorded. Furthermore the routine urinalysis and biochemistry results of pregnant women inquired were collected and recorded.When we considered the physical features of the cases, it was observed that in the third trimester body weight, in the 2nd and 3rd trimester BMI was increased significantly (P<0.05). When we examined the biochemical values, in the third trimester WBC (White Blood Cell), in the first trimester PLT (Platelet) significantly increased (P<0.05), and HCT (hematocrit), LYMP (percentage of lymphocyte) (%) values decreased in the 3rd trimester (P<0.05). It was observed that NEUT (neutrophil), MONO (monocyte), NEUT(%) (percentage of neutrophil), PCT(%) (percentage of thrombocyte in total blood cell) values in the 3rd trimester and MCHC (percentage of erythrocyte hemoglobin concentration) in the 2nd trimester significantly increased (P<0.05). It was attained that RBC (red blood cell) and fasting blood glucose in the 3rd trimester significantly decreased (P<0.05). When we examined the urine values of the cases, the results showed that ALT (alanine aminotransferase), BUN (blood urea nitrogen amount) values in the 3rd trimester decreased (P<0.05) and BILIRUBIN, OBHB (erythrocyte) in the 3rd trimester increased (P<0.05). In this study iron binding capacity and SG (density) values of pregnant women in 3rd trimester increased significantly (P<0.05). In the conclusion of this study, it was noted that there was a significant changes in blood hematologic and urinary results with pregnancy but these changes were acceptable and coherent with literature.Key Words: Pregnancy, Nutrition, Body Mass Index, Hematology.
