An important poet from Bursa: Metin Güven (his life, art and works)

As a man of letters from Bursa, Metin Güven, who has not presented a comprehensive academic study, is a poet who was born on January 24, 1947 in Bursa and died on August 16, 2010 in Bursa. Metin Güven published thirteen poetry books in the forty-two years from 1968, when his first poem was published, until his death (Also his fourteenth poetry book, which was informed by himself that it would be published but lost after his death, was also found and included in the study by us). The total number of poems in the poet's published books is six hundred and fifty-two (652). The poet, who spent his life in Bursa throughout his life, except for his university years and two years when he first started teaching, is the founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine Onaltıkırkbeş, whose first issue was published on January 15, 2006. His perspective on the world and culture through poetry, poem, literature and art was determined and his poetics was tried to be presented considering his works in this magazine and his independent writings. The fact that many sources presented misinformation about the poe,t who changed and transformed his poetry thourghout his first and last book, made it necessary to write a new biography about him. In this study; It is aimed to bring the poet, who has taken important roles in the accumulation of art, sociocultural and intellectual life of Bursa, forward and convey the correct information considering his life, artist personality, works and poetry. In this context, the personality and the literary life of Metin Güven has been examined within the framework of the historical level of Bursa and his world of poetry has been tried to be revealed by analysis of texts. Respectively, his life as a poet, his literary identity and his works are given, then his poetics was analyzed and evaluated, his poems were tried to be examined in terms of form and content, and his place and importance in Turkish literature was tried to be determined.
