Özet (EN)

Due to the presence of active faults around the Marmara region, Bursa is located within the 1st Degree earthquake zone. In this rapidly growing city, the earthquake has become one of the biggest natural disaster. Secondary waves due to earthquakes, cause volumetric changes in the ground. As a result, there is a risk of liquefaction when appropriate conditions are established. The liquefaction of clean sands is already known. There is still no consensus on the liquefaction of silty, clayey and gravel soils. For example, in 1999 Kocaeli earthquake, liquefaction occurred in fine grained soils except sand. This has played an important role in the increase of researches. Geology of the Özlüce region of Bursa province, has alluvial characteristics. The region therefore contains sand, silt and clay. In this study, two parameters for the subject of the thesis are emphasized, and general soil assessment was carried out with liquefaction potential and carrying capacity analyzes. For liquefaction potential analysis, Seed and Idriss, Fear and Robertson, Vancouver Task Reporter and Turkey Earthquake Building Regulations are used in the proposed method. Terzaghi and Peck, Hensen, Meyerhof, Vesic methods were used for carrying capacity analysis. Liquefaction was calculated for 140 samples, bearing capacity was calculated for 36 samples and the results were interpreted. 11 samples were found to be of critical value. As a result of the study, it was observed that the liquefaction potential increased in cohesion soils with low plasticity and low fine grain rate in addition to cohesion free soils. It has been determined that soil improvement methods should be applied before construction, especially considering the critical liquefaction potential at these points.
