Abstract (EN)

Earthquakes are one of the most important and dangerous natural disasters in the world in terms of their effects. In order to analyze the effects of the earthquakes and design earthquake-resistant buildings, special engineering approaches must be taken into consideration. In making these approaches, it is important to include the irregularities in load-bearing system correctly in the analysis. "A1 Torsional Irregularity", which is effective in the behavior of the structure against the load effects that the structure is exposed to and is given as irregularity in the seismic code, is accepted as one of the most important factors. In this thesis, the behavior of structures with different torsional irregularities in multi-storey steel structures has been investigated considering the principles of Turkish Seismic code (TBDY-2018). For this study, 10 models were produced using Inverted V concentric steel braces in a 10-storey steel structure with the same purpose of usage and structure size. The models were created only by changing braces positions. Different models of the building were analyzed in accordance with the Turkish Seismic Code (TBDY-2018) using Equivalent Static and Response Spectrum analyses in ETABS V18 Finite Element Analysis Package. Using the analysis results; the dynamic characteristics of the structure obtained from both methods were compared with the torsional irregularity coefficients. As a result of the investigation; in the structural analysis of 10 models with different torsional irregularity coefficients, displacements were found to be larger when calculated using the Equivalent Earthquake Load method.
