Abstract (EN)

Khuzestan, which hosted the Median, Persian, Parthian and Sassanid Empires; it was an important region in the pre-Islamic political, military, cultural and economic fields. It maintained its importance for Islamic states after the conquest of the Muslims. In particular, the institutions built in various parts of the Islamic world, taking the Gundeshapur School as an example, became the pioneers of scientific progress. Because of being close to Baghdad, Khuzestan was primarily affected by the political, military, religious, cultural and social activities there. Abbasids with the loss of its political power in the III. (IX.) century, local dynasties such as Tahirids and Saffarids, which emerged within the state, took Khuzestan under their dominion, albeit for a short time. The ensuing Negro rebellion laid the groundwork for the socio-economic collapse of the region. These developments, which destabilized the region, caused a decline in its scientific life. After the Buyid stook Khuzestan under their dominion, they made some arrangements to ensure the political and economic stability of the region. However, the struggle for the reign of 'Adud al-Dawla's successors frustrated these efforts. Thanks to the support of the Mu'tazila sect by the Buyid rulers, it was possible to train many Mu'tazilite scholars in the region. After the Great Seljuks ended the domination of the Buyids in Khuzestan, the region was governed by military governors appointed from the center. Except for the isolated incidents in the time of Berkyaruq and Muhammed I. Tapar, Khuzestan stayed away from political conflicts. Although the Batinîs negatively affected social life, the struggle against them was successful. Khuzestan was divided among the sons of Muhammad I. Tapar during the formation of the Iraq Seljuks State. When the Afsharids living in Seyhoun had to migrate to the west with the Turkmen tribes, some of these groups settled in the region. Shumla, who emerged from the Afsharid clan, established an emirate in Khuzestan and played an active role in the political life of the region for about 50 years. In this thesis, the Khuzestan region has been examined as a whole throughout history. We studied the Buyids and Seljuks period in all its aspects. However, valuable information was tried to be given in the thesis about before these periods.
