Evaluation of the clinical success of stainlesssteel crowns applied using different cements inpermanent teeth affected by molar-incisorhypomineralization

Abstract (EN)
Materials and Methods: Thirty patients aged 8–12 years who met the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Crowns were cemented using a split-mouth study design, randomized into two groups: calcium silicate-based resin cement (THERA CEM®, Bisco, USA) and resin-modified glass ionomer cement (KETACTM CEM PLUS, 3M ESPE, USA). After the completion of treatments, patients were scheduled for follow-up visits at the 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th months. At the baseline and follow-up sessions, a sensitivity test was performed on the permanent first molars affected by MIH using an air-puff reaction. The Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used vlaquev subjective assessment of sensitivity intensity. Additionally, the general oral hygiene status of the patients was assessed using the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI) of Green and Vermillion with a vlaque indicator (GC Tri Plaque ID GelTM , GC corporation, Tokyo, Japan). Periodontal vlaque status was evaluated using the Löe&Sillness Plaque Index and the Löe&Silness Gingival Index. In addition to clinical and restorative evaluations, radiographic assessments were also performed at the 6th and 12th months. The IBM SPSS Statistics Version 22 (IBM SPSS®, Chicago, USA) software was used for statistical analyses. Findings: At the end of twelve months, 23 teeth from the CSRC group and 25 teeth from the RMGIC group were evaluated. During the follow-up period, the survival rate was found to be %95,3 survival CSRC group and %100 survival RMGIC group. The sensitivity on the VAS significantly decreased for both groups; however, no statistically significant difference was found between the cements. The OHI values significantly decreased during follow-up compared to the baseline. The vlaque index and gingival index values also decreased in both groups; however, no significant difference was found between them. Conclusion: The CSRC and RMGIC used in pulp capping cementation showed similar success rates. These cements are recommended for use in the treatment of teeth with MIH according to the symptoms and patients of different age groups.
