Determination of specific success motivation and general self efficacy of ice hockey players

The aim of the study is to define sport-spesific success motivation and self efficacy levels of Turkish ice hockey teams. 420 male and female active ice hockey athletes (in 2017-2018 season) who are older than 18 attended the study. Data is collected by considering Willis (1982), For validity and reliability analysis, 'Sport spesific Success Motivation Scale' developed by Tiryaki and Gödelek (1997), validity and reliability study develeoped by Schwarzer (2005) and 'General Self-Efficacy Scale' developed by Yıldırım (2010) is used. Data is analysed by using SPSS. Arithmetic mean of personal data is used in data analysis. Cronbach Alfa index is used for frequency (f) and percentage (%) is used for scale reliability. Kolmogorow Smirnov test is used to see if the data of the sub problems of the studyis normally distributed or not. The results of the test showed that, the data is normally distrubuted. One way Anova was used to compare the differences between the means of the groups. T-test is applied to analyze the differences of the genders in success motivation and self-efficacy. The relationship between success motivation and self-efficacy is reviled by using Pearson Correlation test. Pearson correlation was used to determine the interaction between motivation of success and self sufficiency awareness. As a result of the study, there was a significant positive relationship between the success motivation scale sub-dimensions, success motivation scale by gender and no significant difference was found in any sub-dimension, while significant self-efficacy scale showed significant differences according to gender and nationality. There were no significant differences in achievement motivation and general self-efficacy scales according to educational status, sports experience and age variables.
