Özet (EN)
The aim of this study was to evaluate of clinic, radiologic and some biochemical (IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-, MDA, NO, GSH and AOP) parameters in blood and synovia of calves with arthritis. The material of this study was consisted of totally 28 calves from different breed and sex including 20 arthritis and 8 healthy calves, aged between 7-60 days old, which were referred to department of Surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Afyon Kocatepe University. The data obtained from calves with arthritis were analyzed following clinic and radiographic examinations. Moreover, blood and synovial samples from all calves were collected to evaluate interleukine-1ß (IL-1ß), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?), malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), glutation (GSH) and antioxidant capacity (AOC). On clinical examinations, it was determined that the lesions were originated from art. carpi of 13 calves, art. tarsi of two, art. cubiti of two, art. metacarpo-phalengea of three and art. genu of three. It was observed that arthritis composed from polyarthritis in three calves. It was seen that the colour of synovial fluid formed from light yellow to brown and the viscosity of the fluid decreased. The concentrations of TNF- ? of healthy calves and calves with arthritis were 53,90±7,9 ng/L and 153,88±30,7 ng/L, respectively, while TNF- ? in synovial fluid was 91,81±5,5 ng/L and 137,04±43,3 ng/L, respectively. It was observed that the concentrations of IL-1ß, IL-6 and TNF-? of calves with arthritis were higher than those of healthy calves. The increment of IL-1ß, IL-6 and TNF-? in both blood serum and synovial fluid was statistically significant (p<0,05). In conclusion, it is suggested that the concentrations of IL-1ß, IL-6 and TNF-? in blood serum and synovial fluid are helpful tools to diagnose arthritis, in addition to clinic, radiographic and gross examination of synovial fluid. Moreover, this study provided evidence that arthritis slightly caused oxidative stress in calves.
