Abstract (EN)
The aim is to identify the effect of developing skills of description and classification of polygons with Cabri II Plus Geometry Software.Both qualitative and quantitative research approaches were considered in the study. This work is designed as a mixed method research. This research included 21 seventh grade students in total and as qualitative aspect of work we researched on 4 of those 21 seventh grade student. 11 of them are girls and 10 of them are boys. We realized this research at Emine Cahide Karaali Secondary School in the educational year of 2012 ? 2013.Data gathering tools are `?Polygons Perception and Calassification Test?? and the papers that were desinged by the researcher. Research was obtained through using IBM SPSS Statistics 20. The data was analyzed using analysis of variance, correlation, arithmatic mean, standart deviation, frequencies, percentages, T-test and Wilcoxon test. İn addition, qualitative data was analysed with descriptive analyse.As a conclusion, when the qualitative data is examined, there was an observation on meaningful improvement about Cabri Geometry. There was no reasonable differance according to sex variation. The input gathered from the interviews was categorized in five different themes. It was concluded that misoccurances resulted in wrong generalizations. We observed that as a result of applications, the hierarchical relations between polygons was indicated. Participants were successful to express polygons with their own sentences after this process. It was obvious that the students who have the pre-informations about both the software and geometry was a lot more successful.It is considered that the results of the research are going to contribute to other researches on description and classification of Dynamic Geometry Software of polygons and also, it is going to be efficiant to teach polygons for educators.Key words: Geometry, Dynamic Geometry, Polygons, Classification of Polygons, Geometrical Building.
