Bacteria in the presence of CaCl2; investigation of H2O2 sensitivity with LasB elastase, amylase, protease activity

Abstract (EN)

In this study, LasB elastase, amylase, protease activity and H2O2 sensitivity of bacteria grown in the presence of CaCl2 at different concentrations, at 37 oC, in static conditions and in NB media using Gr (-) Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Gr (+) Bacillus cereus were comparatively investigated. In this study, we conducted on secondary metabolite production of bacteria in the presence of different concentrations of Ca+2; For B. cereus, the maximum increase in amylase activity and biofilm production in the presence of 0.15 M Ca+2, inhibitory effect on elastase activity, increased sensitivity to H2O2 and increased hemolysis activity in the presence of 0.1 M Ca+2, and the increase in protease activity in the presence of 0.05 M Ca+2 has been realized. For P. aeuroginosa, the maximum amylase activity, biofilm production, increased resistance to H2O2, increased hemolysis activity, pyorubin production and increases in protease activity occurred in the presence of 0.1 M Ca+2, while the inhibitory effect against elastase activity was mostly in the presence of 0.15 M Ca+2. The presence of Ca+2 increased the secondary metabolite production of bacteria. We believe that these studies and the results obtained will fill the gap in the literature and contribute to new perspectives. Metabolite production at such high Ca+2 concentrations was investigated by us for the first time.
