Abstract (EN)

Hayreddin Karaman is a scholar of our time, who feels the responsibility in his soul to present Islam to the comprehension of modern age. He studies in order to improve traditional culture by it enables to dispose of dimness, moreover searches to find solutions for modern problems. Karaman not only has comhensive knowledge about classical literature, but also is closely interested in modern Islamic scholars? thoughts and considerations. In addition to Fiqh he has made effort for researches on different matters and he is known with his aspect to produce solutions for socieity?s religious problems. Moreover it is possible to see him as a sedulous scholar who strugles for Muslims? education and teaching. Karaman is one of advocaters who emphasize to leave imitation and ?religious life without contemplation in it?. Furthermore he advocates to leave continuously open the ijtihad choice which XIX. and XX. Century reformists see as a way to save Islam from staying behind of modern age.On this study, it is highlighted how Karaman approaches through today?s matters, his reference style onto Islamic (Şer?i) proofs and also his Fikh thoughts. Besides, this study which is based on Karaman?s scientific and intellectuel point of view about Islam law, will put forward approach to the question that how Muslims take part with their religion and law systems, on today?s dizzy changing world.Karaman, who has made research with the scope of reformation on Islamic proofs as Qur?an, Sunnah, Ijma, Qiyas, İstihsan and Maslahat, considers that; intellectual heritage of Fiqh which lives even today, is sign of that liveliness. Karaman has defended trying to look for solutions on new born problems and questions with the help of principles like exigency and purpose of Islam. He has also acted independent from the approach of imitating only one madhdhab. According to him; besides percieving Ictihad as a religious duty and vital exigency, leaving continuously open the ijtihad choice and also validation of exigency principle for general-specific matters, put forward solutions lots of today?s problems
