Abstract (EN)

The topic of prison poetry occupies a significant aspect in Arabic literature, both in old and new works, as the researcher finds a multitude of poets who were imprisoned for various reasons. The Zionists occupation of Palestine and the subsequent killing, injustice, oppression, and displacement forced the Palestinian poets to confront the occupiers by all means of resistance, demonstrating their nationalism, courage, perseverance, and determination to challenge for the sake of freedom, which made the occupier fed up with these militants who were working to liberate their homeland from Israel grasp and imprisoned them, and subjected them to various forms of injustice, torture, humiliation, and inhumanity in order to extinguish the spirit of resistance. However, these prisoners conveyed a message of resistance for the Palestinian people, and their poetry, represented by the artistic image, served as a container through which the poet tries to communicate his idea and feelings to the reader. This makes it similar to a mirror that reflects the psychology of the creative poet and reveals his depths based on imagination and analogous and metaphorical images. Inside prisons, the poets expressed their feelings through artistic and rhetorical images. This research sheds light on poets who were imprisoned in Israeli prisons in the modern era. The research is presented in three chapters. In the first chapter, the researcher discusses the idea of prison and its historical development. The second chapter talks about the origin of prison poetry in Palestine, how poets described prisons, and the most important poetic issues that poets raised in their works. The third chapter focuses on the artistic image in prison poetry in Palestine.
