The new meaning of contemporary library and an investigation on interior design

This research focuses on the new meaning of contemporary libraries and understanding the role of contemporary library spaces today. In the study, libraries were evaluated together with the new librarianship approach. In the theoretical part of the study, the definition of the library, its history, the changing meaning of libraries and the factors that determine interior design in contemporary libraries were examined. By comparing traditional and contemporary libraries, the factors determining the quality of the space were determined. The interior designs of six libraries, which host relatively more users than other libraries in the world and in Turkey, were analyzed and evaluated with the determined factors.
