Abstract (EN)
Objects have a vital importance in sustaining the daily lives of individuals and societies. These items, which are classified according to their functionality, also contain a sense of belonging to the place and the individual. Objects have spiritual values as well as usage value. They exist with their representative presence on behalf of the individual as a trace of lived experience in the space. In this context, objects that have taken their place in art throughout art history are loaded with many symbolic meanings. Representations of objects in art have become a source of cultural data in terms of giving insight into past lives, such as findings obtained in archaeological excavations. On the other hand, ideas about the perception of reality of the period are carried to the present day through cultural symbolism expressed through objects. With the still lifes that emerged as a kind of painting in the 17th century Northern European Art, objects changed the direction of their visibility in art and took their place in history as a subject without a figure. However, it also frequently manifested itself in portraits as a means of representation. Objects, which have mostly been a part of the space throughout the history of art, have played important roles in the creation of artists' own symbolism with modern art. This tradition continued in art after 1960, but at the conceptual level, objects as a means of expression for artists took their place in many artistic production practices. This study questions the representation of objects as traces of 'thereness' in contemporary painting. The works selected within the scope of the subject were analyzed within the framework of the relationship of objects with space and the concepts of belonging. In this study, which is discussed under three general headings: concepts of space-objects-belonging, images of objects in Art History and representations of objects in contemporary Art, the last section includes my works produced within the scope of the subject.
